Review: I had my first taste of Ophelia London when I read Definitely, Maybe in Love. In comparison, I must admit that Aimee and the Heartthrob is a bit of a disappointment. Don't get me wrong... This book is enjoyable, but it's not as unique and intriguing as Definitely, Maybe in Love. 

This book was a bit of a cliche in my opinion. It's cutesy and gushy and fun, but there were no twists and turns. Everything was expected, and everything was your typical plot line come to life... again.

That being said, I knew coming in that this book was going to be something that would be the "been there, done that" sort of thing. Yet, I finished the book and was left disappointed because I had been expecting a little bit more with the writing. It was all a bit too fast-paced and dramatic for my taste. It just didn't seem realistic or feasible in the slightest. And to be honest, there was a bit of a clompy rhythm to it... hard to stay with, but hard to back out.

This book was definitely fun, and it brought on all the cutesy feels, but I can't say that I'll be reading this again. The alternating POV's was interesting to read, but I couldn't truly get a good feel on either of the characters. I got bits and pieces of Aimee and bits of pieces of Miles. And I barely even got any scraps in regards to the other characters. I know that this is a series in which we will go more in depth with the other characters, but I would have liked to see a bit more of a connection from Aimee and Miles with the other guys and gals. 

I'd say that if you want an obviously sweet and cute book, go for it. Aimee and the Heartthrob will definitely give you that. Just be ready for the expected and the familiar. I mean, I love books revolving around music, and I love books with cutesy stories and endings, but this one just contained a plot line that I've seen way too many times. Even though it's not like I had to force myself to plow through this, it wasn't like I was experiencing need-to-read-have-to-read-now-now-now syndrome. Nothing really kept me wanting more. But then again, it's not like reading this was torture. 

All in all, I'm disappointed with my second glimpse at Ophelia London since I had high expectations after my introduction to her work, but I'm sure I'm still going to take a look at more of her writing. Definitely, Maybe in Love really left a big impact.

Character dynamics, overused plot lines, and high expectations made Aimee and the Heartthrob fall a bit short for me. Still, I won't say no to reading the rest of the series. I understand that the other books are written by different authors, revolving around the other band members of Seconds to Juliet, so I may give it a shot, just to see if it gets better and so that I can get some more info about the other guys... And also just for funsies, because why not? Like I said, this book didn't have a wow factor, but it also wasn't bad at all.
